I just watched Manhattan again last night after all these years. For me, it still encapsulates Woody Allen at his finest hours.  It is the reason why I fell in love with New York and Gershwin light years ago. 

Watching it again now after seeing how Allen's life unfolded in the recent years is like witnessing a self-fulfilling prophecy in action.  It seems, in this case, a variation of "Life imitating Art".

Although Allen had long fallen from Grace and lost his edge with his old followers, Manhattan is still one of my favorite classics.

'You've got to find what you love,' Jobs says

This is the text of the Commencement address by Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple Computer and of Pixar Animation Studios, delivered on June 12, 2005.

I am honored to be with you today at your commencement from one of the finest universities in the world. I never graduated from college. Truth be told, this is the closest I've ever gotten to a college graduation. Today I want to tell you three stories from my life. That's it. No big deal. Just three stories.

The first story is about connecting the dots.

I dropped out of Reed College after the first 6 months, but then stayed around as a drop-in for another 18 months or so before I really quit. So why did I drop out?

It started before I was born. My biological mother was a young, unwed college graduate student, and she decided to put me up for adoption. She felt very strongly that I should be adopted by college graduates, so everything was all set for me to be adopted at birth by a lawyer and his wife. Except that when I popped out they decided at the last minute that they really wanted a girl. So my parents, who were on a waiting list, got a call in the middle of the night asking: "We have an unexpected baby boy; do you want him?" They said: "Of course." My biological mother later found out that my mother had never graduated from college and that my father had never graduated from high school. She refused to sign the final adoption papers. She only relented a few months later when my parents promised that I would someday go to college.

And 17 years later I did go to college. But I naively chose a college that was almost as expensive as Stanford, and all of my working-class parents' savings were being spent on my college tuition. After six months, I couldn't see the value in it. I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life and no idea how college was going to help me figure it out. And here I was spending all of the money my parents had saved their entire life. So I decided to drop out and trust that it would all work out OK. It was pretty scary at the time, but looking back it was one of the best decisions I ever made. The minute I dropped out I could stop taking the required classes that didn't interest me, and begin dropping in on the ones that looked interesting.

It wasn't all romantic. I didn't have a dorm room, so I slept on the floor in friends' rooms, I returned coke bottles for the 5¢ deposits to buy food with, and I would walk the 7 miles across town every Sunday night to get one good meal a week at the Hare Krishna temple. I loved it. And much of what I stumbled into by following my curiosity and intuition turned out to be priceless later on. Let me give you one example:

Reed College at that time offered perhaps the best calligraphy instruction in the country. Throughout the campus every poster, every label on every drawer, was beautifully hand calligraphed. Because I had dropped out and didn't have to take the normal classes, I decided to take a calligraphy class to learn how to do this. I learned about serif and san serif typefaces, about varying the amount of space between different letter combinations, about what makes great typography great. It was beautiful, historical, artistically subtle in a way that science can't capture, and I found it fascinating.

None of this had even a hope of any practical application in my life. But ten years later, when we were designing the first Macintosh computer, it all came back to me. And we designed it all into the Mac. It was the first computer with beautiful typography. If I had never dropped in on that single course in college, the Mac would have never had multiple typefaces or proportionally spaced fonts. And since Windows just copied the Mac, its likely that no personal computer would have them. If I had never dropped out, I would have never dropped in on this calligraphy class, and personal computers might not have the wonderful typography that they do. Of course it was impossible to connect the dots looking forward when I was in college. But it was very, very clear looking backwards ten years later.

Again, you can't connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something — your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life.

My second story is about love and loss.

I was lucky — I found what I loved to do early in life. Woz and I started Apple in my parents garage when I was 20. We worked hard, and in 10 years Apple had grown from just the two of us in a garage into a $2 billion company with over 4000 employees. We had just released our finest creation — the Macintosh — a year earlier, and I had just turned 30. And then I got fired. How can you get fired from a company you started? Well, as Apple grew we hired someone who I thought was very talented to run the company with me, and for the first year or so things went well. But then our visions of the future began to diverge and eventually we had a falling out. When we did, our Board of Directors sided with him. So at 30 I was out. And very publicly out. What had been the focus of my entire adult life was gone, and it was devastating.

I really didn't know what to do for a few months. I felt that I had let the previous generation of entrepreneurs down - that I had dropped the baton as it was being passed to me. I met with David Packard and Bob Noyce and tried to apologize for screwing up so badly. I was a very public failure, and I even thought about running away from the valley. But something slowly began to dawn on me — I still loved what I did. The turn of events at Apple had not changed that one bit. I had been rejected, but I was still in love. And so I decided to start over.

I didn't see it then, but it turned out that getting fired from Apple was the best thing that could have ever happened to me. The heaviness of being successful was replaced by the lightness of being a beginner again, less sure about everything. It freed me to enter one of the most creative periods of my life.

During the next five years, I started a company named NeXT, another company named Pixar, and fell in love with an amazing woman who would become my wife. Pixar went on to create the worlds first computer animated feature film, Toy Story, and is now the most successful animation studio in the world. In a remarkable turn of events, Apple bought NeXT, I returned to Apple, and the technology we developed at NeXT is at the heart of Apple's current renaissance. And Laurene and I have a wonderful family together.

I'm pretty sure none of this would have happened if I hadn't been fired from Apple. It was awful tasting medicine, but I guess the patient needed it. Sometimes life hits you in the head with a brick. Don't lose faith. I'm convinced that the only thing that kept me going was that I loved what I did. You've got to find what you love. And that is as true for your work as it is for your lovers. Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven't found it yet, keep looking. Don't settle. As with all matters of the heart, you'll know when you find it. And, like any great relationship, it just gets better and better as the years roll on. So keep looking until you find it. Don't settle.

My third story is about death.

When I was 17, I read a quote that went something like: "If you live each day as if it was your last, someday you'll most certainly be right." It made an impression on me, and since then, for the past 33 years, I have looked in the mirror every morning and asked myself: "If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today?" And whenever the answer has been "No" for too many days in a row, I know I need to change something.

Remembering that I'll be dead soon is the most important tool I've ever encountered to help me make the big choices in life. Because almost everything — all external expectations, all pride, all fear of embarrassment or failure - these things just fall away in the face of death, leaving only what is truly important. Remembering that you are going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose. You are already naked. There is no reason not to follow your heart.

About a year ago I was diagnosed with cancer. I had a scan at 7:30 in the morning, and it clearly showed a tumor on my pancreas. I didn't even know what a pancreas was. The doctors told me this was almost certainly a type of cancer that is incurable, and that I should expect to live no longer than three to six months. My doctor advised me to go home and get my affairs in order, which is doctor's code for prepare to die. It means to try to tell your kids everything you thought you'd have the next 10 years to tell them in just a few months. It means to make sure everything is buttoned up so that it will be as easy as possible for your family. It means to say your goodbyes.

I lived with that diagnosis all day. Later that evening I had a biopsy, where they stuck an endoscope down my throat, through my stomach and into my intestines, put a needle into my pancreas and got a few cells from the tumor. I was sedated, but my wife, who was there, told me that when they viewed the cells under a microscope the doctors started crying because it turned out to be a very rare form of pancreatic cancer that is curable with surgery. I had the surgery and I'm fine now.

This was the closest I've been to facing death, and I hope its the closest I get for a few more decades. Having lived through it, I can now say this to you with a bit more certainty than when death was a useful but purely intellectual concept:

No one wants to die. Even people who want to go to heaven don't want to die to get there. And yet death is the destination we all share. No one has ever escaped it. And that is as it should be, because Death is very likely the single best invention of Life. It is Life's change agent. It clears out the old to make way for the new. Right now the new is you, but someday not too long from now, you will gradually become the old and be cleared away. Sorry to be so dramatic, but it is quite true.

Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.

When I was young, there was an amazing publication called The Whole Earth Catalog, which was one of the bibles of my generation. It was created by a fellow named Stewart Brand not far from here in Menlo Park, and he brought it to life with his poetic touch. This was in the late 1960's, before personal computers and desktop publishing, so it was all made with typewriters, scissors, and polaroid cameras. It was sort of like Google in paperback form, 35 years before Google came along: it was idealistic, and overflowing with neat tools and great notions.

Stewart and his team put out several issues of The Whole Earth Catalog, and then when it had run its course, they put out a final issue. It was the mid-1970s, and I was your age. On the back cover of their final issue was a photograph of an early morning country road, the kind you might find yourself hitchhiking on if you were so adventurous. Beneath it were the words: "Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish." It was their farewell message as they signed off. Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish. And I have always wished that for myself. And now, as you graduate to begin anew, I wish that for you.

Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish.

California 2010 Election Results - Jerry Brown is the new Governor

California Democratic gubernatorial candidate Jerry Brown has won.

The Democratic candidate defeated Republican Meg Whitman in the most expensive race in California history.

Mr. Brown won the election with 49 percent of the vote. Ms. Whitman received 46 percent of the vote.

The race, which was closely watched by politicos nationwide, is one of the few bright spots for state Democrats. A number of races remain close, or have gone in favor of Republicans at the state level.

The race garnered national attention after Ms. Whitman spent nearly $150 million in her bid to win the election.

Barbara Boxer defeated Carly Fiorina at the senate race

LOS ANGELES — Democrat Barbara Boxer has won her fourth term in the U.S. Senate, dashing GOP hopes of removing the liberal icon with a strong challenge from former Hewlett-Packard Co. CEO Carly Fiorina. Boxer's re-election Tuesday was not easy. She faced a multimillionaire candidate and a wave of attack ads funded by out-of-state business and conservative groups. The campaign was among the most challenging in the 69-year-old senator's long political career, as she found herself defending Democratic attempts to turn around the struggling economy. Fiorina blamed Democrats for failed economic policies, but Boxer turned the tables and said Fiorina represented a return to past Republican policies that created the recession. Boxer also painted Fiorina as too extreme for most California voters on issues ranging from abortion to gun control.

Proposition 19 - (Legalization of Marijuana) Election Results Indicates a “No” Vote

Despite months of campaigning for those in support of Proposition 19, it looks as those the legalization of marijuana in the state o California will not be happening anytime soon. Even though only a fraction of total votes in the 2010 California election have been counted, those which have, indicate that Prop 19 will not pass.

With support from celebrities and politicians alike, such as Vicente Fox, George Soros, Tom Bates, and Ed Rosenthal, Proposition 19 just couldn’t overcome the statements made by US Attorney General Eric Holder in mid October stating that the Federal Government would still make recreational marijuana use illegal even if Prop 19 had passed. The proposition which got off to a tremendous start in the the first 10 months of the year just couldn’t develop enough of a following to win the majority of California voters liking. Pre-election polling done in July indicated that approximately 50% of voters supported the Proposition, while about 39% were against it. These numbers seemingly went the other way after Holder’s comments last month

With 17% of the votes counted in California, proposition 19 commands just 44% in favor of it, while 56% of California voters have voted “no”. Sure we still have the majority of votes in the state to be counted, however if early indication mean anything, proposition 19 certainly looks like it is dead in the water, at least for this year’s elections.

Proposition 23 (Suspension of Green House Gas Control) is defeated

Opponents of Proposition 23 won a major victory tonight, shooting down the ballot measure that would have suspended California's strict greenhouse-emissions law, according to the Los Angeles Times.

The contest was something of a showdown between clean tech firms and wealthy oil companies, with each side claiming that California's economic future was at stake. Big Oil said Proposition 23 would save over a million jobs, while Big Green argued the ballot measure would kill 500,000 jobs and a burgeoning "green economy" that would produce many more jobs.

Voters apparently believed the Big Green argument was stronger.

Many California college students were also involved in the "No on 23" fight, worried that the ballot measure would stall a clean technology economy and hurt their chances of landing a "green job" once they graduated from school.

In a L.A. Weekly cover story, Gabe Elsner, a 23-year-old environmental activist, organized college students up and down California to defeat Prop. 23. Elsner wanted the youth vote to turn out in force and stop the ballot measure.

According to the "No on 23" campaign, early exit polling showed that liberal and moderate Republicans opposed Prop. 23.
With the victory, many experts predict that a green economy is poised to take off in California, possibly becoming a key component of an economic rebound in the Golden State.

The victory of the Giants tonight is anything BUT a simple win in baseball history.  Instead, it's an inspirational story of trust, of fierce fight of the underdogs, and above all of redemption.

The Giants are called a team of misfits and outcasts and have not been a favorite team to win the series, but day in and day out they have proven the experts wrong and stepped up to the plate in a very big way.

Starting Pitcher: Tim Lincecum, the two-time NL Cy Young winner gave up three hits over eight innings and struck out 10... Even though he didn't get the MVP title but he sure was a winning factor tonight...  He struggled in game one against the Texas Rangers' ace pitcher Cliff Lee but was able to beat Lee again.

And here's a story of redemption -- Edgar Renteria, a 35-year-old Giants veteran who has had the worst season of his career and was injured almost half the season -- made a comeback and hit this historic game-wining 3-run home run.

The San Francisco Giants have won Major League Baseball's World Series for the first time since 1954, when the team was based in New York City.   The National League champion Giants beat the American League champion Texas Rangers in Game 5 of the best-of-seven series to clinch baseball's 2010 overall title, four-games-to-one.

The San Francisco Giants beat the Texas Rangers, 3-1 Monday in Arlington, Texas to win the World Series, ending one of the longest championship droughts in baseball history - 56 years.Giants manager Bruce Bochy said it is a great feeling to finally win a World Series title.  "I have been fortunate to be in this game [of baseball] and manage for quite awhile," he says, "and I have never been to this point.  It is what you dream about.''Texas was favored by many heading into the World Series. 

San Francisco first baseman Aubrey Huff said the Giants proved the critics wrong. "This staff, this bullpen [pitching staff] did not get the credit it deserved to start these playoffs," he said.  "We were underdogs the whole way, and all the experts out their picked us last.  Just goes to show what they know, man.  Heart, great pitching, defense, and timely hits - and that is what we did."Great pitching in a season dubbed, "The Year of the Pitcher," came from starter Tim Lincecum who struck out 10 batters and allowed only one run and three hits in eight innings before star reliever Brian Wilson pitched a scoreless ninth inning to close it out.  

Lincecum said winning the World Series is indescribable."I do not really know how to pick what emotion to go with right now. It is like, what are we thinking about next year, the excitement and the things that can happen, talking about what we did this year, the right moves that we made.  We just did all the right things," Lincecum said.Lincecum beat opposing pitcher Cliff Lee in the final game. 

The Giants hurler also topped the Texas ace last Wednesday in the series opener.  Lee came into the World Series with seven wins and no losses during the playoffs.Game five's timely hitting came courtesy of the Series Most Valuable Player, Edgar Rentaria, whose three-run home run in the seventh inning was all the scoring San Francisco needed.Bochy said winning the World Series was a team effort, led by Rentaria. "I know how bad Edgar wanted it.  It was not too long ago, we had a little talk, and he said, 'I just want to go out and win another World Series.'  I could not be prouder for him.  It is pretty incredible what he is done in his career," he said.Rentaria also had the winning hit in the 1997 World Series when he played for the Florida Marlins.Nelson Cruz drove in the Rangers' only run on a solo homer off Lincecum in the bottom of the seventh inning. 

Texas Rangers manager Ron Washington says the Giants starting pitchers silenced his team's big bats.  "They drove our offense, and good pitching stopped hitting.  In this series, their pitching certainly stood up, and that - that was the difference right there," Washington said.The Texas Rangers were making their first World Series appearance in the 50-year history of the franchise. 

This is the sixth World Series title in Giants' history, and their first since the franchise moved west to San Francisco, California from New York in 1958.

The San Francisco Giants are a Major League Baseball (MLB) team based in San Francisco, California, which currently plays in the National League West Division. One of the older baseball teams, the Giants have won the most games of any team in the history of American baseball.

The Giants played in New York City through the 1957 season, after which they moved west to California to become the San Francisco Giants.

As the New York Giants, they won 17 pennants and 5 World Championships, from the era of John McGraw and Christy Mathewson to that of Bobby Thomson and Willie Mays. The Giants have not won a World Championship since 1954, and have never done so in San Francisco, for the third-longest championship drought among MLB teams behind those of the Chicago Cubs and Cleveland Indians (who were defeated by the Giants in the 1954 Series).

The Giants are the 2010 champions of the National League West and are currently in the playoffs for the first time in seven years. In the first round of playoffs they defeated the Atlanta Braves to reach the National League Championship Series where they face the Philadelphia Phillies.

จากข้อมูลของกลุ่มนักวิชาการด้านประวัติศาสตร์ ต่างให้การยอมรับว่า
"นครหริภุญไชย" หรือลำพูน เป็นจังหวัดที่มีกลุ่มคน ชาติพันธุ์ที่หลากหลายที่สุดในภาคเหนือ อาทิ ยวน โยนก ไทใหญ่ ยางแดง เขิน ลื้อ ลั้วะ ยอง มอญ

หากนับชาติพันธุ์ตั้งแต่อดีต  ยุคสมัยที่พระนางจามเทวี พร้อมไพร่พล จากเมืองละโว้ เข้ามาปกครองบ้านเมือง สร้างความเจริญรุ่งเรืองทั้งด้านศาสนา สังคม และวัฒนธรรมจนเป็นที่กล่าวขานว่า เป็นแผ่นดินทองของล้านนา

ต่อมาเมื่อต้องถูกรุกราน ลำพูนต้องตกอยู่ภายใต้อำนาจของเชียงใหม่
จนถึงยุคที่พม่าเข้ามารุกรานล้านนา และได้ปกครองลำพูนนานกว่าสองทศวรรษต้องยอมรับว่าในช่วงหลังสงคราม ไม่ว่าจะเป็นยุคใดสมัยใดก็ตาม
เมืองที่ถูกรุกรานแทบจะกลายเป็นเมืองร้างทันที ผู้คนชาวบ้านต่างหนีตาย

สำหรับเมืองลำพูน
หลังจากที่ พญากาวิละ เจ้าเมืองเชียงใหม่ ได้ต่อสู้ ขับไล่พม่าจนชนะ จึงได้เกณฑ์ชาวเชียงใหม่และชาวลำปางประมาณ 1,500 คนให้มาตั้งรกรากที่เมืองลำพูนพร้อมกันนี้ได้กวาดต้อนชาวไตลื้อจากเมืองยองสิบสองปันนา ประมาณ 10,000 คนมาอยู่เมืองลำพูน

ในช่วงที่มีการอพยพ โยกย้ายผู้คนจำนวนมากนี้ เรียกกันว่า ยุคเก็บผักใส่ซ้าเก็บข้าใส่เมือง เกิดขึ้นในช่วงปี พ.ศ.2348 และพญากาวิละได้สถาปนาให้เจ้าคำฝั้น หรือ เจ้าบุรีรัตน์ เป็นเจ้าเมืองลำพูนมาตั้งถิ่นฐานบ้านเรือนอยู่ในที่ราบลุ่มฝั่งแม่น้ำกวง
ตรงข้ามกับตัวเมืองลำพูน ด้านตะวันออก คือบ้านเวียงยองและบ้านตองในปัจจุบัน

สำหรับสาเหตุที่ทำให้ชาวไตถูกกวาดต้อนอพยพมาอยู่ต่างบ้านต่างเมืองในครั้งสงครามนั้น เนื่องจากเป็นเมืองชายขอบที่อยู่ระหว่างศูนย์อำนาจใหญ่ เช่น พม่าจีน เชียงตุง เชียงรุ่ง เชียงแสน เชียงใหม่ และหลวงพระบาง ตั้งอยู่ในแอ่งที่ราบขนาดเล็กเป็นเมืองที่ไม่มีความเข้มแข็งและมีอำนาจในช่วงสงคราม จึงมีการแก่งแย่งกวาดต้อนผู้คนจากเมืองเล็กๆ ที่ไม่มีความเข้มแข็ง เมืองยองได้รับความกระทบกระเทือนทุกครั้งทำให้ผู้คนล้มตายและหลบหนีเข้าป่าไปจนเกือบเป็นเมืองร้าง

ครั้งที่พญากาวิละ ไปกวาดต้อนผู้คนจากเมืองยองมานั้น ได้ประกาศว่า "ผู้ใดสมัครใจจะไปอยู่เมืองหละปูน บ่ต้องโกนหัว ส่วนไผอยู่เมืองเดิม ให้โกนหัวเสีย"

ปรากฏว่าชนชั้นเจ้านาย ยอมโกนหัว เพื่อประกาศว่าจะไม่ละทิ้งแผ่นดินเกิดในขณะที่ชนชั้นล่าง ชาวไร่ ชาวนา ยินยอมที่จะอพยพไปตายเอาดาบหน้า
แต่พญากาวิละเห็นว่ากลุ่มคนที่ไม่ยอมไป มีมากกว่าและเป็นกลุ่มคนชั้นสูงที่มีคุณภาพ จึงกลับคำและสั่งให้กลุ่มคนเหล่านั้นไปอยู่เมืองหละปูนแทน ส่วนพวกชาวนา ชาวไร่ก็ให้ปักหลักอยู่แผ่นดินเดิมต่อไป

การฟื้นฟูเมืองลำพูนของพระเจ้ากาวิละ เพื่อต้องการให้เมืองเชียงใหม่มีความมั่นคงมากยิ่งขึ้นประกอบกับเมืองลำพูนยังเคยเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของเชียงใหม่มาก่อน
จึงได้ให้เจ้าเมืองยอง บุตร ภรรยา พี่น้อง พร้อมชาวยองจำนวนหนึ่งมาตั้งถิ่นฐานราบลุ่มแม่น้ำกวง ฝั่งด้านทิศตะวันออกของเมืองลำพูน แม่น้ำทาและแม่น้ำลี้ เพื่อที่พระเจ้ากาวิละจะสามารถควบคุมดูแลได้ง่ายและป้องกันการก่อกบฏด้วย

หัวหน้าพิพิธภัณฑสถานแห่งชาติหริภุญชัย กล่าวว่าคนส่วนใหญ่ยังเข้าใจผิดว่ายองเป็นชื่อของชาติพันธุ์กลุ่มหนึ่งที่แยกตัวมา จากชาวไต แต่แท้จริงแล้ว ยองเป็นชาติพันธุ์เดียวกับชาวไตลื้อ ไตเขิน เพียงแต่อพยพมาจากคนละเมือง ไตยองมาจากเมืองยอง ไตเขินมาจากเชียงตุง ปัจจุบันอยู่ในประเทศพม่า และไตลื้อมาจากเชียงรุ่ง ในสิบสองปันนาปัจจุบันอยู่ในประเทศจีน พอมาอยู่เมืองไทยจึงเรียกตนเองว่า "ไตยอง"

ชาวยองเมืองลำพูน ถูกนับเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของพลเมืองชาวสยามการปรับตัวของชาวยองในแผ่นดินสยาม ในด้านสังคมและวัฒนธรรมกลุ่มชาวยองยังคงรักษาเอกลักษณ์ของตนเองไว้อย่างยาวนาน อาทิ บ้านเรือนที่อยู่อาศัย ภาษาพูด "ภาษายอง"ซึ่งเป็นภาษาพูดที่สามารถสื่อสารกันอย่างเข้าใจระหว่างชาวยอง สิบสองปันนากับชาวยองลำพูน ซึ่งต่างจากชาติพันธุ์อื่นๆ ที่อาศัยอยู่ในลำพูน แต่ถูกวัฒนธรรมคนเมืองกลืนไปจนหมด

70 เปอร์เซ็นต์ พลเมืองลำพูน ทั้ง 7 อำเภอ 1 กิ่ง เป็นคนยองที่อาศัยราบลุ่มน้ำทา น้ำลี้ น้ำกวงทั้งสิ้น เป็นระยะเวลากว่า200 ปี ที่คนยองได้ย้ายแผ่นดิน จากสิบสองปันนา มาอยู่สยามประเทศถึงแม้ว่าระยะทางจะห่างไกลกันก็ตาม แต่คนยองทั้งสองประเทศยังไปมาหาสู่กันอยู่ ร่วมกันคิด สืบสานวัฒนธรรมรากเหง้าของบรรพบุรุษ

กาญจนกามล ทายาทรุ่นที่ 4 เจ้าเมืองยอง ที่ถูกพญากาวิละกวาดต้อนมาอยู่เมืองลำพูน เล่าว่า พ่อเคยเล่าให้ฟังว่าชาวไตยองที่ถูกกวาดต้อนมา มักจะถูกเหยียดยาม ไม่ได้รับการยกย่องจากกลุ่มคนเมือง และกลุ่มเจ้านายเมืองเหนือ ถ้าเกิดมาเป็นหญิงมีรูปลักษณ์หน้าตาสวยงาม ก็จะได้แต่งงานกับเชื้อเจ้า และเจ้าขุนมูลนาย
เหมือนกับย่าทวด หรือเจ้าแม่คำเฝื่อ ลูกสาวเจ้าเมืองยองที่มีด้วยกันสองพี่น้อง

ผู้พี่ได้แต่งงานกับเจ้าหลวงเมืองลำพูน เจ้าดาราดิเรกรัตน์ไพโรจน์ แต่ก็ไม่ได้รับการยกย่องเชิดชู ส่วนน้องสาวแต่งงานกับคนจีนตระกูลแซ่เล้า ใน ตระกูลอนุสารสุนทร ซึ่งเป็นต้นตระกูลของนิมมานเหมินทร์

นับเป็นประวัติศาสตร์ ครั้งสำคัญของชาวไตหรือคนยอง ที่อพยพกันมาแบบเทครัว หรือเตโค ตั้งแต่ปี พ.ศ.2348 จนถึงเมษายน 2549 เป็นเวลา 200 ปีที่ชาวยองได้มาตั้งถิ่นฐานที่เมืองลำพูน เอกลักษณ์ และวัฒนธรรม วิถีชีวิตความเป็นอยู่ ยังคงสืบทอดมาจนถึงรุ่นลูก รุ่นหลาน อาทิ การแต่งกาย ผู้เฒ่า ผู้แก่บางคนยังคงแต่งกายแบบชาวไต

ภาษายอง ซึ่งเป็นภาษาพูดที่เป็นเอกลักษณ์ สำเนียงแปลก แตกต่างจากภาษาคำเมือง บ้านที่อยู่อาศัย ถึงแม้ว่าปัจจุบันจะหาดูได้ยาก แต่ยังมีให้เห็นใน อ.ป่าซาง อ.บ้านธิ และ อ.เมือง ซึ่งลักษณะของบ้านชาวยองนั้น จะนิยมสร้างบ้านไม้ ใต้ถุนโล่ง หลังคาจะไม่มีกาแล แต่จะมีรูปนกยูง ซึ่งเป็นสัตว์สัญลักษณ์ที่ชาวยองเคารพนับถือประดับอยู่แทน ศิลปะการฟ้อนรำบางอย่าง เช่น ฟ้อนยอง ฟ้อนดาบ การทำกลองหลวง ความเคารพ ยึดถือคำสั่งสอนของพระพุทธเจ้า รักความสงบ

ชาวไตยองนับเป็นชาติพันธุ์ บรรพบุรุษคนลำพูน ที่รักษารากเหง้าของตนเองได้นานกว่า200 ปี ซึ่งเด็กรุ่นหลังควรจะภาคภูมิใจ ยึดรากเหง้าวิถีชีวิตดั้งเดิมของบรรพบุรุษรักษาไว้"

ส่วนเรื่องบ้านป่าเห็วนั้น เซาะข้อมูลได้มาก่าเรื่องวัดป่าเห็ว แต่ก็ใจ้ได้เพราะหมู่บ้านเป๋นหมู่บ้านหน้อยๆ ตั้งอยู่บนถนนเจียงใหม่-หละปูนสายเก่า

วัดป่าเห็ว

                "ไม่ปรากฏหลักฐานว่าสร้างมาแต่สมัยใด  แต่ทราบว่าเริ่มบูรณะปฏิสังขรณ์  เมื่อ  พ.ศ.  2375 และได้รับพระราชทานวิสุงคามสีมา เมื่อ พ.ศ.  ๒๔๕๖  ด้าน ปูชนียวัตถุมี พระพุทธรูปศิลปะเชียงแสน และเจดีย์

                วัดป่าเห็ว ตั้งชื่อตามหมู่บ้านที่ตั้งอยู่(เดิมเขียนว่าป่าเหียว) จนกลายมาเป็นป่าเห็วเช่นปัจจุบันนี้ ที่มีชื่อเช่นนี้เพราะว่ามีต้นเหียวมากมาย

วัดป่าเห็วกับแม่น้ำปิงห่าง

                วัดป่าเห็วตั้งอยู่บนฝั่งแม่น้ำปิงห่าง แต่เดิมนั้นเป็นแม่น้ำปิงสายเดิมที่ยังไม่เปลี่ยนเส้นทางเดิน  แต่เดิมนั้น  แม่น้ำปิงไหลไปทางเวียงกุมกาม  โดยได้รวมเวียงกุมกามไว้ฟากเดียวกับเมืองเชียงใหม่ในสมัยราชวงศ์มังราย  (  พ.ศ.  ๑๘๓๙  -  ๒๑๐๑  )  ในตอนนั้นการเดินทางจากเชียงใหม่ไปเวียงเชียงใหม่ไปเวียงกุมกามจะไม่ข้ามแม่ น้ำปิง  เมื่อเราดูภาพถ่ายทางอากาศ  พ.ศ.  ๒๔๙๗  จะเห็นร่องรอยของปิงห่างชัดเจนมาก  จุดที่ปิงห่างแยกตัวจากแม่น้ำปิงปัจจุบันจะอยู่ห่างวัดกู่คำ  หรือวัดเจดีย์เหลี่ยม  บ้านท่าวังตาล  อำเภอสารภี  จังหวัดเชียงใหม่ไปทางทิศเหนือ  วัดระยะทางทางอากาศประมาณ  ๒๕๐  เมตรจากนั้นร่องรอยของปิงห่างจะผ่านวัดศรีบุญเรือง  อำเภอสารภี  จังหวัดเชียงใหม่  เลียบไปทางทิศเหนือของเวียงกุมกามเลียบไปตามถนนสายเชียงใหม่  -  ลำพูนสายเก่าด้านทิศตะวันตก  ผ่านบ้านสันคือ  บ้านหนองผึ้ง  บ้านกองทราย  บ้านกู่เสือ  บ้านปัน

                ปิงห่าง  คือ  สายน้ำแม่ปิงเดิม  ๆ  ที่ยังไม่เปลี่ยนเส้นทางเดิน  ในสมัยโบราณเมืองลำพูนตั้งอยู่ทางทิศตะวันตกของแม่น้ำปิง  เวลานั้นแม่น้ำปิงไหลมาบรรจบกับแม่น้ำกวงที่บ้านหลิ่งห้า  เรียกว่า  “  สบปิงหลิ่งห้า  “  ไหลรวมกันผ่านบริเวณหน้าวัดพระยืนไปรวมกับลำน้ำแม่สานหรือสารนที  ที่ไหลล่องลงไปทางทิศใต้ของเมือง

                แม่น้ำกวงเป็นลำน้ำเล็ก  ๆ  ที่ไหลมาจากขุนกวงในอำเภอดอนสะเก็ดจังหวัดเชียงใหม่ในอดีตไหลมารวมกับน้ำปิง สายเก่าตรงสบปิงหลิ่งห้า  น้ำกวงตรงช่วงที่ไหลผ่านบ้านช่างฆ้อง  หัวกวง  ท่านาง  ท่าสิงห์พิทักษ์  ท่าขาม  บ้านหลวยนั้นก่อนหน้าของยุคพระเจ้ามังราย  ไม่มีปรากฏ  พื้นที่บริเวณดังกล่าวเป็นผืนเดียวกันหมด  แต่มาเกิดขึ้นในสมัยของพระเจ้ามังรายหลังจากที่ตีเมืองลำพูนได้แล้ว  พระเจ้ามังรายได้ยกพลไปตั้งมั่นอยู่  ณ  บริเวณที่เรียกว่า  เวียงน้อย  ทางอีสานทิศของเมืองลำพูนเนื่องจากบริเวณนี้เป็นที่ลุ่ม  ในฤดูฝนหน้าพรรษาจะมีน้ำท่วมขัง  เป็นที่เดือดร้อนไปทั่ว  ทั้งผู้คน  ช้าง  ม้า  วัว  ควาย  จึงทรงสั่งให้ขุดลัดคุ้งแม่น้ำ  เป็นการระบายน้ำในที่ลุ่มให้ออกไป  สายน้ำปิงและน้ำกวงที่รวมกันจึงเปลี่ยนเส้นทางเดิน  มุ่งเข้าและมุ่งตรงไปยังที่ลุ่มกว่าโดยง่าย  เปิดทางน้ำกว้างออก  กลายเป็นแม่น้ำกวงเส้นปัจจุบันที่เห็นอยู่เพียง  บ้านปากกอง  บ้านอุโมงค์เขตเมืองลำพูน  บ้านกอม่วง  บ้านป่าเห็ว  จากบ้านป่าเห็วนี้ร่องรอยของปิงห่างจะเปลี่ยนแนวมาทางทิศตะวันออก  ขนาบอยู่ทางทิศตะวันออกของทางรถไปผ่านข้างหนองหมู  บ้านป่าเส้า  บ้านชัยสถาน  บ้านต้นผึ้ง  บ้านไร่  บ้านป่าสัก  บ้านปิงห่าง  และบ้านหลิ่งห้า  อำเภอเมือง  จังหวัดลำพูน  ปิงห่างจากเวียงกุมกามถึงจุดบ้านหลิ่งห้าจะมีระยะทางยามประมาณ  ๒๕  กิโลเมตร  ร่องรอยของปิงห่างปรากฏเป็นแนวขนานอยู่ทางทิศตะวันตกของถนนสายเชียงใหม่  -  ลำพูน  ในแนวตั้งแต่บ้านสันคือลงไปถึงบ้านอุโมงค์  ช่วงนี้จะมีลักษณะลาดต่ำลงเป็นแอ่งกระทะ  ระดับของท้องน้ำจะอยู่ต่ำกว่าระดับถนนประมาณ  ๑-๒  เมตร  ถนนสายเชียงใหม่  -  ลำพูน  จึงถูกสร้างบนพนังธรรมชาติของร่องปิงห่าง  และตอนปลายของร่องน้ำนี้จะประจบกับแม่น้ำกวง  ณ  บริเวณบ้านหลิ่งห้าซึ่งเรียกกันว่า  “  สบปิง  “  หรือ  “  สบปิงหลิ่งห้า “

                จากจุดสบปิงตรงบ้านหลิ่งห้านี้มีข้อสังเกตว่า  ในสมัยพระนางจามเทวีนั้น  แม่น้ำกวงคงจะไม่ได้ไหลผ่านหมู่บ้านเข้าเมืองหริภุญชัยตามที่ไหลผ่านเช่น ปัจจุบันคือ  ผ่านสะพานดำ  (  ใต้สถานีรถไปลำพูน  )  บ้างช่างฆ้อง  บ้านหัวกวงท่านาง  ท่าสิงห์พิทักษ์ผ่านหน้าวัดพระธาตุหริภุญชัย  ท่าขามเข้าสู่บ้านหลวย  ทั้งแม่น้ำกวงช่วงนี้ก็ไม่ใช่แม่น้ำปิงหรือพิงคนทีที่ในตำนานกล่าวไว้ว่า  อยู่ทางเบื้องตะวันออกของหริภุญชันสครแต่ประการใด  คงพอที่จะสันนิษฐานได้ว่า  ในช่วงเวลาของพระนางจามเทวีเสด็จจากเมืองละโว้มาเมืองลำพูนในตอนนั้นไม่มี แม่น้ำกวงและพิงคนทีหรือแม่น้ำปิงไหลผ่านเมืองลำพูนเช่นปัจจุบันนี้  น้ำแม่กวงและน้ำแม่ปิง  (  ปิงเก่า  )  ที่แท้จะไหลมาถึงและรวมตัวกันที่สบปิงหลิ่งห้าเท่านั้น  ผืนแผ่นดินที่ถูกแบ่งโดยแม่นไกวงขณะนี้นั้นเมื่อก่อน  ๆ  โน้นเป็นผืนแผ่นดินเดียวกันโดยตลอด  ทั้งนี้เพราะวัดสี่มุมเมืองที่รพะนางจามเทวีได้ทรงสร้างขึ้นในตัวเมืองหริภุญชัยหนึ่งในวัดทั้งสี่วัดคือ  “  วัดดอนแก้ว  “  หรือ  “  อรัญญิกรัมมการาม  “ ซึ่งเป็นวัดที่อยู่ในตัวเมืองขณะนั้นไม่มีลำน้ำใด  ๆ  ผ่าผ่านทางด้านทิศตะวันตกของวัดและวัดสี่มุมเมืองนี้จะมีระยะทางห่างจากจุด ศูนย์กลางของเมืองคือ  ตรงจุดสะดือเมืองที่เป็นพระวิหารสะดือเมืองเดี๋ยวนี้  ห่างเป็นระยะประมาณวัดละ  ๕๐๐  วา  ทั้งสี่วัด  เมื่อเป็นดังนี้จึงชวนให้คิดว่า  แม่น้ำปิงที่ในตำนานว่าอยู่ทางทิศตะวันออกของเมืองหริภุญชัยนั้นจะอยู่  ณ  ที่ตรงไหน


                พอจะเป็นที่สันนิษฐานได้หรือไม่ว่า  แม่น้ำปิงในอดีตหรือปิงห่างนั้นจะบรรจบกับลำน้ำกวงที่ไหลมาทางด้านทิศตะวัน ออกเฉียงเหนือตรงจุดที่เรียกว่า “  สบปิงหลิ่งห้า  “ 

แล้วไหลมุ่งตรงไปทางหน้าวัดพระยืนไปพบกับลำน้ำแม่สานหรือสารนทีรวมกันแล้ว  ๆ  ไหลไปลงที่สบสานบ้านหลาย  ไหล่ล่องไปทางทิศใต้เรื่อย  ๆ ไปบรรจบกับลำนำแม่ทาตรงบ้านสบทา  เส้นทางการไหลผ่านของน้ำแม่ปิงในลักษณะเช่นนี้แม้จะเป็นเพียงการสันนิษฐาน  ก็คงพอที่จะทำให้เรามองเห็นภาพของเมืองหริภุญชัย  ที่ตั้งอยู่ในทางทิศวันตกของลำน้ำปิงได้อย่างชัดแจ้ง  และคงจะเป็นไปได้ยิ่งขึ้นจึงอยากจะขอฝากไว้ให้ท่านผู้รู้และผู้ที่มีข้อ สังเกตทีสามารถชี้ชัดได้ว่า  ข้อเท็จจริงเป็นเช่นไร  ช่วยพิจารณาอีกชั้นหนึ่ง  เพื่อจะเป็นข้อมูลที่ถูกต้องต่อไป  มีข้อที่น่าสังเกตและน่าจะสันนิษฐานได้อีกประการหนึ่งก็คือเมื่อพระยามัร ายตีได้เมืองหรือภุญชัยแล้วก็อยู่เสวยราชสมบัติเพียงสองปีก็ทรงแต่งตั้งให้ อ้ายฟ้าเป็นขอนฟ้าครองเมืองหริภุญชัย  สาเหตุที่พระองค์ไม่เลือกหริภุญชัยนครเป็นราชธานี  เพราะเมืองหริภุญชัยมีขนาดจำกัดตัวเมืองซึ่งสร้างมากว่า  ๕๐๐  ปี  นขณะนั้นไม่สามารถจะขยายออกไปได้ดั่งใจนึกและเต็มที่  อีกทั้งตัวเมืองก็เต็มไปด้วยวัดวาอารามและเป็นศูนย์กลางของพระพุทธศาสนามา ช้านาน  ที่สำคัญยิ่งก็คือมีพระบรมธาตุเจ้าหริภุญชัยจึงทรงคงไว้ให้เป็นต้นเค้าของ เมืองแห่งพระพุทธศานาโดยแท้ไว้เช่นนั้น  และเห็นควรที่จะแสวงหาทำเลแห่งใหม่  เพื่อการสร้างนครหลวงให้ยิ่งใหญ่ได้สมใจแห่งพระพุทธศาสนาโดยแท้ไว้เช่นนั้น  และเห็นควรที่จะแสวงหาทำเลแห่งใหม่  เพื่อการสร้างนครหลวงให้ยิ่งใหญ่ได้สมใจแห่งพระองค์ในครั้งนั้น  จึงโปรดให้ยกไปตั้งหลัดอยู่  ณ  เบื้องทิศอีสานแห่งเมืองหริภุญชัย  ดูน่าจะเป็นบริเวณใกล้  ๆ  กับสถานสบปิงหลิ่งห้าซึ่งมีซากของเมืองเก่าให้เห็นอยู่เรียกว่า    “  เวียงน้อย  “
 
วัดป่าเห็วกับ  “  ขัวมุง  “

                “  ขัว   หมายถึง  สะพานคนเดินข้ามลำคลอง  ลำเหมือง  หรือแม่น้ำ  พังนั้น  ขัวมุง  จึงหมายถึง  สะพานที่มีหลังคาคลุมตลอดตัวสะพาน  …  เมื่อครั้งอดีต  ขัวมุงเป็นวัฒนธรรมอย่างหนึ่งของภูมิภาคล้านนา  เป็นสถานที่พักร้อนคลายเหนื่อย  หลบแดด  หลบฝน  เป็นทั้งตลาดขนาดเล็กของชุมชน  และเป็นสถานที่ประชุมพบปะของผู้คนในท้องถิ่น

                เรื่องราวความเป็นมาของขัวมุงนั้นมีมาแต่เมื่อใดไม่มีหลักฐานปรากฏที่แน่ ชัด  มีเพียงเรื่องเล่าสืบทอดต่อกันมาจากผู้เฒ่าผู้แก่ว่า  ขัวมุงนั้นเป็นชื่อของหมู่บ้านและตำบลเล็ก ๆ ตำบลหนึ่งในชนบทสันนิษฐานว่าตั้งขึ้นประมาณ  พ.ศ.  ๒๓๒๔  โดยในตำบลนั้นมีแม่น้ำสายหนึ่งไหลผ่าน  ชื่อแม่น้ำโคง  ซึ่งมีอาณาเขตติดต่อระหว่างจังหวัดเชียงใหม่และลำพูน  สมัยนั้นมีการปกครองระบอบสมบูรณาญาสิทธิราชเจ้าเมืองเชียงใหม่และเจ้าเมือง ลำพนต่างก็มีอำนาจและบารมีในสมัยนั้น  วันหนึ่งได้นักการชนช้างกันในระหว่างแม่น้ำโคง

                ในการชนช้างครั้งนั้นปรากฏว่าเจ้าเมืองเชียงใหม่เป็นผู้ชนะ  เมื่อเจ้าเมืองเชียงใหม่เป็นผู้ชนะ  จึงคิดจะสร้างอนุสรณ์ที่แสดงถึงชัยชนะไว้  จึงได้คิดสร้างสะพานข้ามแม่น้ำโคงระหว่างหมู่บ้านขึ้นมา  ซึ่งสะพานนั้นมีลักษณะแปลกกว่าสะพานทั่ว ๆ ไปคือ  สะพานนั้นทำด้วยไม่ล้วน ๆ มีหลังคาที่มุงด้วยไม้เกตุแทนกระเบื้องดินเผา  สะพานนั้นสร้างไว้บริเวณทางเหนือของวัดขัวมุงเพื่อให้เป็นที่สัญจรไป มาระหว่างหมู่บ้าน  แต่ในปัจจุบันนี้สะพานได้ชำรุดเสียหายไปหมดแล้ว  เหลือไว้เพียงนาม  หมู่บ้านขัวมุง  และวัดขัวมุงเท่านั้น

                บ้างก็เล่าว่า  การสร้างขัวมุงนั้นไม่มีความสำคัญทางประวัติศาสตร์อะไรเลย  แต่การสร้างขัวมุงนั้นสร้างไว้เพื่อเป็นที่สำหรับสัญจรไปมาระหว่างหมู่บ้าน  โดยในสมัยก่อนจะสร้างไว้ใกล้วัดเป็นส่วนใหญ่  เนื่องจากในสมัยก่อนวัดนั้นเป็นศูนย์รวมทางด้านการศึกษา  ซึ่งเมื่อชาวบ้านจะเดินทางมาวัดก็จะเดินข้ามขัวมายังวัดสาเหตุที่ต้องสร้าง ขัว  หรือสะพานให้มีหลังคานั้นก็มีสาเหตุมาจากความเชื่อต่างๆ  ของ  ชาวบ้านว่า  ขัวหรือสะพานนั้นแต่ก่อนสร้างด้วยไม้ไม่ใช่การสร้งด้วยอิฐหรือปูนดัง ปัจจุบัน  ดังนั้นเพื่อให้ใช้งานได้นาย ๆ ผู้สร้างจึงทำหลังคาไว้เพื่อกันแสงแดด  และน้ำฝนที่จะเป็นสาเหตุให้ไม้ผุและสะพานเสื่อมเร็วบ้างก็ว่า  สาเหตุที่สร้างหลังคานั้นก็เพราะว่าเมื่อชาวบ้านที่เดินทางมาวัดเพื่อทำบุญ  จะมาล้างมือที่บริเวณขัวหรือสะพาน  เพื่อมิให้คราบไคลจากตัว  ไปติดวัดและอีกประการหนึ่งใช้เพื่อเป็นที่หลบแดด  หลบฝนหรือเพื่อพักผ่อนพบปะพูดคุยกัน  ซึ่งชาวบ้านบางคนก็จะนำสินค้าและอาหารมาขายบิริเวณสะพานหรือขัวนี้ด้วย

                บุญเสริม  สกตราภัย  ได้กล่าวถึงขัวมุง  คอลัมน์สีสันวันวารในหนังสือขวัญเรือน  ฉบับที่  ๗๓๘  ว่า  ขัวมุง  หรือก็คือ  ขัวม่าน  ซึ่งเกิดจากผู้ที่สร้างสะพานแห่งนี้ซึ่งเป็นชาวพม่า  ชาวบ้านจึงเรียกว่า  “  ขัวม่าน  “

“  ม่าน  “  ก็คือ  “  พม่า  “  นั่นเองเชื่อกันว่าขัวมุงนั้นสร้างขึ้นเพื่อเป็นสะพานข้ามลำเหมืองแห่งหนึ่ง เป็นสะพานไม้มุงหลังคา  สร้างด้วยสถาปัตยกรรมศิลปะที่สวยงาม  แข็งแรง  ในอดีตของล้านนานั้นเคยมีสะพานแบบนี้อยู่หลายแห่ง  เนื่องจากการเดินทางของของคนในสมัยก่อนนั้นต้องให้การเดิน  ซึ่งค่อนข้างจะไกลเพื่อให้นักเดินทางได้พักผ่อนในระหว่างเดินทางขังมุงส่วน ใหญ่นอกจากจะถูกสร้งเพื่อเป็นสะพานข้ามแม่น้ำแล้วยังใช้เป็นที่พักริมทางของ ผู้ที่สัญจรไปมา  เพราะข้างในขัวมุงจะมีที่นั่งพักและหม้อดินใส่น้ำเย็น

ขณะเีดียวกั๋น ก็ต้องขอสุมาคนเมืองตี้ข้อมูลตี้ไปรวบรวมมาส่วนมากก่จะเป๋นกำไทย รวมๆ กั๋นแล้วมันก่ก๋ายเป๋นสำนวนแก๋งโฮะ (อะไรที่มารวมๆกันแบบไม่มีแบบแผน ไม่เป็นระเบียบ) ไปซักน่อย

น่าเศร้าใจ๋ตี้บ่ะเดี่ยวนี้ ฟ้าฮ่ามก๋ายเป็นตี้ตี้คนฮู้จักในฐานะตี้เป็นตี้กิ๋นตี้แอ่ว กิ๋นเหล้าฟังเพลงตะอั้น ทั้งๆตี้ บ้านเฮามีประวัิติสืบทอดเมินนาน  บ่ะเดี่ยวนี้พอเอ่ยจื้อฟ้าฮ่าม คนก็กึ้ดถึง ข้าวซอยเสมอใจ๋พ่อง ข้าวซอยลำดวนพ่อง ก็บ่มี๋อะหยังผิด แต่ความตี้เฮาเกิดฮั้น ใหญ่ฮั้น หันความเปลี่ยนแปลงไปในทางวัตถุ มันก่บ่ม่วนใจ๋เป็นธรรมดา (ก่ท่าจะเริ่มเฒ่าน่า่ก่ะเนาะ) เลยอยากไข้เก็บเกร็ดหน้อยๆ หนิดๆ เต้าตี้เซาะได้ กึ้ดได้มาลงไว้พ่อง

ประวัติวัดฟ้าฮ่ามและบ้านฟ้าฮ่าม

"พระ เจ้าแสนเมืองมา" พระเจ้าลักขบุราคม พระองค์เป็นกษัตริย์ราชวงค์มังราย (เม็งราย) องค์ที่ 9 ทรงเป็นราชโอรสของพระเจ้ากือนาธรรมมิกราช กษัริย์องค์ที่ 8 เมื่อพระชมมายุได้ 15 พรรษา ในเวลานั้น พระเจ้าพรหม พระมาตุลาของพระองค์ ครองเมืองเชียงราย ได้ยกทัพมาตีนพบุรีศรีนครพิงค์(เชียงใหม่) เพื่อแย่งชิงราชบัลลังก์ แต่ถูกทัพหลวงตีพ่าย จึงขอความช่วยเหลือจากพระอินทรราชากษัริย์แห่งกรุงศรีอยุธยา แต่ก็ถูกตีพ่ายไปอีก

ต่อมาอีกไม่นาน พระเจ้าพรหมก็เสด็จมานพบุรีศรีนครพิงค์อีก เพื่อขอพระราชทานอภัยโทษ โดยนำพระพุทธสิพิงค์ (พระสิงห์) องค์สำคัญคู่บ้านคู่เมือง (สร้างเมื่อ พ.ศ.700 ตามตำนาน "สิงหลปฏิมา" และ ชินกาลมาลีปกรณ์ สร้างขึ้นที่ประเทศศรีลังกา นัยหนึ่งว่าที่เมือง "อนุราชสิงหล" ประเทศเดียวกัน ครั้งเมื่อพ่อขุนรามคำแหงได้แต่งราชฑูตไปขอมาจากประเทศศรีลังกา) มาจากเมืองกำแพงเพชร ประมาณ พ.ศ.1933 (พงศาวดารโยนก) อัญเชิญไปไว้ที่เชียงราย ใน พ.ศ.1934 แล้วต่อมาได้นำมาถวายพระเจ้าแสนเมืองมา เพื่อขอพระราชทานอภัยโทษ โดยอัญเชิญจากเชียงรายทางลำน้ำกก แล้วมาขึ้นที่สบฝางกุสะนคร (เมืองฝาง) จากนั้นอัญเชิญขึ้นหลังช้างไปเชียงดาว เพื่อล่องเรือตามเส้นทางลำน้ำแม่ระมิงค์ (แม่ปิง) ครั้นถึงนพบุรีศรีนครพิงค์แล้ว อัญเชิญขึ้นที่ท่าวังสิงห์คำ เหนือท่าเจดีย์งามประมาณ 50 ว่า แต่เกิดเหตุการณ์ปาฏิหารย์ขององค์พระพุทธสิหิงค์ ปรากฏว่า ท้องฟ้าที่สว่างก็มืดลง และ มีพระรัศมีจากองค์พระพุทธสิหิงค์ พุ่งไปทางทิศตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือ เป็นลำแสงสีทองดั่งรุ้งกินน้ำ ยาวประมาณ 2,000 วา และ สิ้นสุดที่แห่งหนึ่ง ท้องฟ้าที่นั้นก็สว่าง ซึ่งเป็นที่น่าอัศจรรย์ใจยิ่งนัก

พระเจ้าแสนเมืองมาจึงโปรดเกล้า ให้สร้างอารามขึ้น ณ ที่ลำแสงสิ้นสุดนั้นว่า "อารามฟ้าฮ่าม" (วัดฟ้าฮ่าม) หมายถึงฟ้าสว่าง-อร่ามเรืองรอง สร้างเมื่อ พ.ศ.1934 (นับเป็นเวลาถึงปัจจุบัน พ.ศ.2552 วัดฟ้าฮ่ามมีอายุได้ 618 ปี)  จากนั้นนำพระพุทธสิหิงค์ไปประดิษฐาน ณ.วัดลีเชียงพระ (วัดพระสิงห์) ในปัจจุบัน

ใครมีวิธีทำ system restore แบบเข้าใจง่ายๆ สำหรับ windows XP ช่วยบอกหน่อย

ต้อง backup drivers กับ application data ด้วยก่อนทำ restore หรือเปล่า

ช่วงนี้เจอ จอสีน้ำเงินบ่อยๆ (Blue screen of death) ทำ restore จะหายป่าวน้อ (คิดว่าไม่น่าใช่ปัญหา hardware)

I was also enamored by Tom Ford’s commentary which makes the movie even more interesting.  I enjoyed it so much that I had to transcribe it and share bits and pieces here.  I also insert quotes from the movie when applicable to the context.  The whole movie is absolutely poetic. 

หลังจากที่ได้กล่าวถึงความประทับใจในเนื้อหาของหนังแล้ว ในตอนที่สองนี้เรามาดูเรื่องบทภาพยนต์ ความพิถีพิถันในการทำหนัง และการลำดับภาพอย่างเหนือชั้นของหนังเรื่องนี้ก้น ที่เอามาเขียนนี้เรียบเรียงจากบทบรรยายที่Tom Ford เล่าได้อย่างน่าสนใจมาก ใครที่เอาดีวีดีมาดูอย่าพลาด (ปกติไม่ชอบเอาคลิปหนังมาแปะ อยากให้คนไปซื้อหนังมาดู แต่สงสัยหนังเรื่องนี้จะหายาก ในบางตอนเลยเอาคลิปที่เจอเป็นภาษาเยอรมันมาแปะ มีซับไตเติ้ลเป็นภาษาอังกฤษ ไม่รู้ในเมืองไทยจะดูได้หรือเปล่า หนังพากษ์เสียอรรถรสไม่น้อย แต่ก็ดีกว่าไม่ได้ดูเนอะ)

ขอเริ่มจากภาพในหนัง ภาพทุกภาพหากดึงออกมาเป็นภาพนิ่ง เกือบจะเรียกได้ว่าสวยด้วยตัวเองได้ทุกภาพ จะเรียกว่าเป็นเหมือนบทกวีบทแผ่นฟิล์มก็คงไม่เกินจริงนัก ทุกอย่างเกี่ยวกับหนังมีความประณีตบรรจง เหมาะกับยุคสมัยเหมาะกับตัวละครในเรื่อง และเนื่องจากหนังเรื่องนี้เป็นเหมือนกับอัตชีวประวัติของฟอร์ดเองด้วยเท่าๆกับประวัติของ Christopher Isherwood เจ้าของนวนิยาย ทุกอย่างจึงสะท้อนให้เห็นเอกลักษณ์และรสนิยมของฟอร์ดด้วยอย่างงดงามเหมาะเจาะ

ในสมัยนี้ หนังมากมายเริ่มถ่ายกันด้วยกล้องดิจิตัลแล้ว แต่เรื่องนี้ถ่ายด้วยฟิล์มโกดักเก่าที่ทั้งFord และผู้กำกับกล้อง Eduard Grau กว้านซื้อจนกุรุษสุดท้ายมาจากทั่วโลก หนังก็เลยมีเกรนนิดๆ คลาสสิคมากๆ อ่านบล้อคของคนนึงในอินเตอร์เนต เค้าบอกว่าพอดูหนังจบรีบไปซื้อก้อปปี้ที่เป็น Blu-ray มาเลย แต่ปรากฏว่าคุณภาพไม่ได้ต่างไป ชอบที่เค้าบอกว่า “Ford’s use of heavy grain from the film stock works perfectly to help convey the old school 1962 time period… This movie is all about the 35 mm film to cinema, like vinyl records are to music.  The perfections and imperfections are what make it great.”(http://blackboxblue.wordpress.com) (์ตรงนี้เป็นกับตัวเอง หลายครั้งที่เห็นภาพที่สมบูรณ์แบบแต่ขาดวิญญาณ รู้สึกไม่น่าสนใจ คงเหมือนคน มีทั้งข้อดีข้อเสียในตัวเองทำให้น่าติดตามดี- it’s what makes us human.) ในเรื่องนี้ Ford จะเล่นกับสีอย่างที่ตัวเองถูกใจมากๆเลยทีเดียว เนื่องจากหนังทั้งเรื่องเป็นเหมือนกับเรานั่งอยู่ในความคิด ของจอร์จ ตัวเอกในเรื่อง เราจะได้เห็นความเป็นไปต่างๆผ่านโลกทัศน์ของเค้า เวลาที่จอร์จจมจ่อมอยู่ในความเศร้าโศกซึมเซา สีจะเป็นสีตุ่นๆ ส่วนเวลาที่มีความหวัง ตื่นเต้น Ford จะระบายสีให้จ้าจนกลายเป็นเทคนิคคัลเลอร์เลย

ฉากแรกของหนังเปิดด้วยภาพนี้ในไตเติ้ล เป็นGeorge ในความฝันที่รู้สึกว่าตัวเองดำดิ่งจมน้ำ โทนสีเย็นยะเยือก

 

ต่อจากนั้นจอร์จก็ฝันว่าตัวเองมองดูร่างที่ไร้วิญญาณของจิมใต้ซากรถ กลางหิมะที่หนาวเหน็บ จอร์จเดินเข้าไปในลานหิมะพร้อมล้มตัวลงนอนข้างๆจิมพร้อมกับประทับรอยจูบลงไปบนริมฝีปากที่เย็นชืด แต่แล้วก็ต้องสะดุ้งตื่น



ภาพนี้เป็นภาพที่ตัวเองชอบเป็นพิเศษ รู้สึกว่าเหมือนภาพเขียนมากๆ สไตล์แบบ Salvador Dali เหนือจริง หลอนๆ – Tom Ford ก็บอกว่าเค้าเอาความคิดมาจากภาพเขียนแต่ไม่ยอมบอกว่าภาพไหน แล้วพูดติดตลกว่า Coco Chanel เคยพูดว่า “Creativity is the art of concealing your source” –การสร้างสรรค์คือศิลปะในการปกปิดว่าเราไปลอกใครเค้ามา ฮ่าๆๆๆภาพที่คิดถึงจะเป็นภาพนี้ (ภาพเก่งที่ติดหัวสมองเสมอ) – The Persistence of Memory (Salvador Dali – 1931) ชื่อภาพก็เข้ากับบรรยากาศ “ความทรงจำที่ไม่รู้ลืม” ใครนึกภาพอื่นออกบอกที

 

จอร์จต้องสะดุ้งตื่น พร้อมกับสำนึกว่าตัวเองได้กลับเข้ามาในโลกแห่งความเป็นจริงที่เย็นยะเยือกจับขั้วหัวใจ กล้องถ่ายจากมุมสูงให้เห็นว่า ข้างๆ ตัวจอร์จ มีสมุดโน้ตกับปากกาที่หมึกซึมออกมาเปื้อนที่นอนเป็นวงดำใหญ่ตรงที่ที่จิมเคยนอน จอร์จยกมือที่เปื้อนหมึกดำขึ้นมาแตะริมฝีปาก ตรงนี้เป็นนัยถึงจุมพิตมรณะ (The Kiss of Death)





เรื่องจึงเริ่มด้วยบท Monologue ของจอร์จที่ตัวเองชอบมากๆ ขอคัดมาให้อ่าน

“Waking up begins with saying “am” and “now”.  For the past eight months, waking up has actually hurt.  Cold realization that I'm still here slowly sets in.  I was never terribly fond of waking up.  I was never one to jump out of bed and greet the day with a smile like Jim was.  I used to want to punch him sometimes in the morning.  He was so happy.  I always used to tell him that only fools greet the day with a smile, that only fools could possibly escape the simple truth that now isn't simply now.  It's a cold reminder.  One day later than yesterday.  One year later than last year... and that sooner or later... it will come.  He used to laugh at me and then give me a kiss on the cheek…”

ที่ชอบเพราะเป็นข้อคิดสะท้อนแนวคิดทางพุทธศาสนาที่สอนให้รู้เท่าทัน สอนให้มีสติและอยู่กับปัจจุบัน พระพุทธเจ้าทรงสอนให้ทุกคนตั้งอยู่ในความไม่ประมาท เพราะความตายเป็นของแน่นอน จึงไม่จำเป็นต้องกลัว ตรงนี้จอร์จมีความกลัว “it” ในที่นี้คือความตาย แล้วก็มักจะหมั่นไส้จิมว่าจะดีใจปลาบปลื้มกับวันใหม่ไปทำไม ในเมื่อวันนี้เป็นวันที่เราเหมือนกับเป็นไม้ที่ลอยเข้าไปใกล้ฝั่งเรื่อยๆ ส่วนจิมไม่เคยสนใจตรงนั้น เค้าจะตื่นเต้นมีความสุขกับวันใหม่และมีความสุขกับปัจจุบันเสมอ

(ตัวเองก็เคยเป็นนะ บางวันที่อารมณ์บูด เวลาเห็นคนอื่นอารมณ์ดีเกินขนาดก็จะหมั่นไส้เค้าเอาดื้อๆ ในทางกลับกัน เวลาเราอารมณ์ดีคนอาจจะรู้สึกอย่างนั้นก็ได้ พูดถึงเรื่องนี้ ทำให้นึกถึงเพื่อนร่วมงานคนนึงนานมาแล้ว เวลาเค้าเดินเข้าที่ทำงานมาทีไร หน้าตาเหมือนคนกำลังจะจมน้ำเสมอ ไม่ค่อยมีคนคุยกับเค้าเพราะเค้าเป็นคนเก็บตัว เราเห็นทีไรสงสารต้องเข้าไปคุย เวลาเห็นแววตาที่เป็นประกายขึ้นมาของเค้าแล้วรู้สึกดีใจ มาคิดไปตอนนี้ เค้าคงกำลังฝ่า mid-life crisis ของตัวเองอยู่เป็นแน่ และ ณ ขณะนั้นของชีวิต เมื่อได้รู้ว่ามีใครสักคนที่แคร์คงจะเป็นการจุดประกายความหวังให้วาบขึ้นมาในใจ)

ในบางวัน ขอแค่ให้ผ่านวันนี้ไปได้ก็พอ - ใช่เลย

ใครที่เคยอกหักอย่างแรง เข้าใจตรงนี้ดีเลิศ

ฉากต่อไปเผยให้เห็นบ้านของจอร์จที่ Ford เห็นว่ามีความสำคัญเท่ากับตัวละครในเรื่องทีเดียว เหตุผลที่จอร์จย้ายมาอยู่ที่อเมริกาก็เพราะชอบความทันสมัย กับความคิดแบบหัวก้าวหน้าตามแบบโลกใหม่ แต่ในขณะเดียวกันเค้าก็โตขึ้นมากับบ้านที่มีความอบอุ่น ฝาเป็นไม้ ดังนั้นก็ต้องหาบ้านที่มีสถาปัตยกรรมแบบสมัยใหม่แต่คงความอบอุ่นไว้ด้วย แล้วก็ต้องอยู่ในแถบลอสแองเจลิส เพราะเป็นสถานที่ตามท้องเรื่อง

บ้านที่เลือกมา ตัวเองก็ชอบมากอีกเช่นกัน เป็นบ้านที่ออกแบบโดย John Lautner สถาปนิกที่ภายหลังมาโด่งดังด้วยการออกแบบบ้านที่ทำด้วยคอนกรีต บ้านหลังนี้ออกแบบในปี 1948 เป็นหลังแรกที่ Lautner ออกแบบเองหลังจากแยกตัวมาจาก Frank Lloyd Wright ดังนั้นจึงมีกลิ่นอายของ Wright อยู่ไม่น้อย การที่บ้านเป็นบ้านกระจกที่อยู่ใจกลางเมืองหลวงก็เป็นสิ่งสำคัญ เพราะเปรียบเสมือนว่าจอร์จ สามารถเห็นความเป็นไปของสรรพสิ่งรอบตัวเค้าได้ แต่ยังล้อมกรอบตัวเองให้ห่างออกมาด้วยกระจก

อีกอย่างนึงคำว่า Glass house ก็เป็นการเล่นคำเหมือนกัน เพราะคนที่อยู่ในบ้านกระจกในภาษาอังกฤษ หมายถึงคนที่เหมือนมีชนักติดหลัง ทำอะไรต้องระวัง (ตัวอย่างในสำนวนที่ว่า “People Who Live In Glass Houses Should Not Throw Stones” ซึ่งคงจะเทียบได้กับสำนวนไทยที่ว่า “ขว้างงูไม่พ้นคอ” – อย่าไปวิพากษ์วิจารณ์คนอื่นเมื่อตัวเองก็ไม่ได้ดีพร้อม) การเป็นเกย์ในสมัยนั้นเป็นเรื่องที่คนปกปิดกัน ในเรื่องจะมีการเอ่ยถึง Glass house หลายตอน

 

วันนี้เป็นวันที่จอร์จตัดสินใจจะจบชีวิตตัวเอง สีของทุกอย่างจะถูกทำให้เป็นสีหม่นๆ
และด้วยการตัดสินใจนี้จอร์จจึงมองทุกอย่างด้วยมุมมองใหม่ เพราะนี่เป็นการมองเป็นครั้งสุดท้าย เพราะอย่างนี้จึงมีการเน้นภาพ “ตา” อย่างมากมายในหนัง






ตอนต่อไปมีบทพูดที่เกี่ยวกับสถานการณ์ในช่วงปี 1962 ในอเมริกา ช่วง Missiles Crisis ที่ฟิเดล คาสโตรขู่จะยิงขีปนาวุทธใส่สหรัฐ คนพากันกลัวไปทุกหย่อมหญ้า พากันสร้างหลุมหลบภัย เตรียมรับมือ (จำได้ว่ามีหนังอีกเรื่องที่พูดถึงตรงนี้ A Blast from the Past นานนน แล้ว) จะว่าไปก็เข้ากับสมัยนี้มากๆ สมัยก่อนคนกลัว Communists สมัยนี้คนกลัว Terrorists

ชอบบทพูดตอนนี้ที่จอร์จพูดกับเพื่อนอาจารย์ถึงความตื้นเขินของนักศึกษาจำนวนมากในสมัยนั้น (ก็คงเหมือนเสมัยนี้ อิอิ) กัดๆ ดี…

George: “Look around you Grant.  Most of these students aspire to nothing more than a corporate job.  The desire to raise Coke-drinking, TV-watching children who, as soon as they can speak, chant TV jingles and smash things with hammers... I find them staring at me in a bovine stupor, as if I were lecturing in a foreign language.  Remind me again why we shouldn't all just be annihilated.”

เพื่อน (Grant) ก็บอกต่อว่าจอร์จว่าเรื่องใหญ่ขนาดนี้ทำไมไม่ให้ความสนใจบ้าง จอร์จตอบได้อย่างถูกใจว่า “If it's going to be a world with no time for sentiment, then it's not a world I want to live in.” ถ้าโลกนี้ไร้สีสัน (แห่งอารมณ์) ฉันก็คงไม่อยากอยู่



จอร์จมาถึงที่ทำงาน และนั่งรอในขณะที่จะต้องเข้าสอน เค้าเป็นคนเจ้าระเบียบและเนี๊ยบมาก ต้องรอให้ถึงเวลาจริงๆ จึงจะลุกขึ้นหิ้วกระเป๋าไปเข้าชั้นเรียน ชอบโทนสีและเส้นตั้งและรูปทรงที่ประกอบกันเป็นฉากนี้มากๆอีกเหมือนกัน (เพิ่มเติม 5/13/2013 - เหมือนโทนเรื่อง Mad Men)





After Many A Summer Dies A Swan...
ฉากต่อไปเป็นฉากในห้องเรียน  หนังสือที่จอร์จยกมาสอนก็เหมือนจะเป็นการเชื่อมโยงกับความรู้สึกของตัวเอกของเรา หนังสือชื่อ After Many A Summer Dies A Swan (1939) แต่งโดย Aldous Hexley ซึ่งเป็นเรื่องของมหาเศรษฐีคนหนึ่งซึ่งอยากกลัวความแก่และความตายมากจนหมกมุ่นอยู่กับการค้นหาทางเป็นอมตะ จะผิดกันก็ตรงที่จอร์จไม่คิดที่จะเป็นอมตะ แต่ต้องการจะจบชีวิตของตนลงในวันนี้

ในตอนนี้มีบทพูดที่เกี่ยวกับเรื่อง ความกลัว ที่น่าสนใจทีเดียว

Hirsch: “On page 79, Mr. Propter says that the stupidest text in the bible is 'They hate me without a cause'.  Does that mean the Nazi's were right to hate the Jews?  Is Huxley an anti-Semite?” (หมายเหตุ: ในทำนองเดียวกัน การที่คนเกลียดคนยิว ก็เป็นในทิศทางเดียวกับที่มีคนมากมายรังเกียจ กลุ่มคนรักร่วมเพศ หรือที่เรียกว่า Homo Phobia)

George: “No.  Mr. Huxley is not an anti-semite.  Of course, the Nazis were wrong to hate the Jews, but their hating the Jews was not without a cause.  It's just that the cause wasn't real.  The cause was imagined.  The cause was fear. 

Let's leave the Jews out of this for a moment.  Let's think of another minority --one that can go unnoticed if it needs to.  There are all sorts of minorities, blonds for example, people with freckles… But a minority is only thought of as one when it constitutes some kind of threat to the majority – a real threat or an imagined one.  And therein lies the fear.  And if that minority is somehow invisible, then the fear is much greater.  That fear is why the minority is persecuted.  And so you see, there always is a cause.  The cause is fear.  Minorities are just people.  People like us.”

“Fear, after all, is our real enemy.  Fear is taking over our world.  Fear is being used as a tool of manipulation in our society.  It's how politicians peddle policy.  It's how Madison Avenue sells us things we don't need.  Think about it.  The fear of being attacked.  The fear that there are communities lurking around every corner.  The fear that some little Caribbean country that doesn't believe in our way of life, poses a threat to us.  The fear that black culture may take over the world.  The fear of Elvis Presley's hips. Actually that one's may be a real fear.  The fear that our bad breath may ruin our friendships.  Fear of growing old, being alone.  The fear that we're useless, and no one cares what we have to say.”

Ford: "Julianne's character, Charlotte, is under construction, here, her hair teased up but not smoothed down.  She's having a midlife crisis as George is and she is clinging to all the things people have expected from her in the past.  She's been known to be a great beauty, she's played by the game of our culture and society.  She always has the latest house, the latest clothes, the latest cars and made a great effort to be beautiful and this is not working for her anymore but yet she's still clinging to it.  You can see her real self on one side where she's unmade up and the artifice that she's creating on the other side.  In fact you see both her art and artifice because her art is creating a creature that she feels everyone is going to love... 

ตัวละครของชาร์ลี (ชาร์ล้อต) ก็กำลังอยู่ในภาวะ "ซึมเศร้าในวัยต่อ พยายามทำทุกวิถีทางเพื่อสร้างภาพให้ตัวเองเป็นคนล้ำสมัย และทำตัวให้เป็นอย่างที่ตัวเองคิดสังคม"จะยอมรับ สังเกตจากเสื้อผ้า การแต่งตัว แต่งหน้า แต่งผม การแต่งบ้าน รถที่ใช้ เพลงที่ฟัง ฯลฯ



Everything about Julienne's character is ahead of the curve.

ฉากต่อไปที่ชอบ คือตอนนี้ เด็กหญิงที่จอร์จมักรำคาญ แต่วันนี้เธอดูงดงาม เต็มไปด้วยสีสัน ฉากจะเน้นที่เด็กน้อยใส่รองเท้าสีฟ้าใสเคาะรองเท้าสามครั้ง เหมือน โดโรธีใน Wizard of Oz เคาะรองเท้าทับทิมสามครั้ง สีก็บรรเจิด

 

พอซูซานเพื่อนบ้าน แม่ของเด็กเดินเข้ามา เธอก็สีจ้าเหมือนกัน เพราะวันนี้จอร์จจะได้เห็นเธอเป็นวันสุดท้าย






George's Flashback...
… On that day, George was photographing all day, so the scene is in black and white... because he's thinking in black and white, light and shadow.

ฉากที่จอร์จเจอคาร์โลสนี้คงเป็นฉากที่คนจำนวนมากว่าว่าหนังเรื่องนี้เหมือนโฆษณาน้ำหอมผู้ชาย แต่ไม่เห็นเป็นไร ชอบเพราะถ่ายได้สวยมาก นายแบบ Jon Kortajarena ที่แสดงเป็นคาร์โลส ก็หล่อดับจิต สไตล์ James Dean ... So who cares?, right? :) โปรดสังเกตสีที่จ้าขึ้นเรื่อยๆ ตอนที่จอร์จจ้องริมฝีปากงามปานเทพบุตรของคาร์โลส...




Carlos: “Sometimes awful things have their own kind of beauty.”
Ford: “I love that line because I really do believe that often most things in life have a kind of beauty if you can see them the right way...”

Carlos: “Lovers are like buses.  You just have to wait a while and another one comes along.” (ประมาณรถเมล์เที่ยวสุดท้าย อะไรทำนองนี้ :))




Ford: “You have to find some sort of humor when terrible things happen to you.”


Ford: "People rarely have real conversation in film anymore."

George:  "One must always appreciate life's little gift."

That's the thing about life... just when you think that something's not going well something else happens

George: “If one is not enjoying the present, there isn't a great deal to suggest the future should be any better.”

Kenny: “I feel alone most of the time... We're born alone, we die alone. And while we're here, we're absolutely; completely sealed in our own bodies...We can only experience the world through our own slanted perception of it.  Who knows what you are really like? I just see what I think you're like.

George: “I'm exactly what I appear to be... if you look closely.  You know, the only thing that's made the whole thing worthwhile...has been those few times when I've been able to really... truly connect with another human being.”

Ford: “This is the most important point in the film – what's it really all about.  The most important things in life are the small things that we overlook and the connection with other people is the thing that really keeps us going.

Kenny: “Everyone keeps telling you that when you're older, that you'll have all this experience, like it's some great thing...

George: “in the words of our friend Mr. Huxley: ‘Experience is not what happens to a man.  It's what a man does with what happens to him.’”

Ford: 
At the end of the movie, George begins to have his recurring dream, that he's sinking, drowning.  But something's happened to George.  Throughout this day he's changed.  He's had a kind of epiphany.  He started to come to understand the meaning of life.  He's had a wonderful life and that the connections to other people are important things in life… and this time he doesn't sink.  He starts to push for surface and he has come up for air... and he takes breath.

ตอนท้ายของหนัง จอร์จฝันแบบเดียวกันอีกว่าเขาเวียนว่ายอยู่ใต้น้ำ แต่คราวนี้จอร์จเริ่มมีความหวังในชีวิต เริ่มค้นพบสัจธรรม เขาเริ่มว่ายขึ้นสู่ผิวน้ำเพื่อหายใจ สังเกตว่าสีที่ใช้จะเป็นสีอุ่นแดงๆ อมส้ม

 

George's Closing Monologue
 
“A few times in my life, I've had moments of absolute clarity. When for a few, brief seconds...the silence drowns out the noise and I can feel... rather than think.  And things seem so sharp.  And the world seems so fresh. It's as though it had all just come into existence.  I can never make these moments last.  I cling to them, but like everything, they fade.  I've lived my life on these moments.  They pull me back to the present.   And I realize that everything is exactly the way it's meant to be... and just like that... it came.”

บทพูดนี้ทำให้นึกถึง เมื่อพระอานนท์ ตรัสรู้ เป็นอรหันต์ ความรู้แจ้งเห็นจริงได้บังเกิด

Ford: "And this is the end of all of our movies, by the way, the end of your movie, the end of my movie… and I think that if we can realize that and be aware that the end does come, it helps us appreciate all the small things that happen in our life everyday."

ตรงนี้ก็ทำให้คิดถึงปัจฉิมโอวาทของพระพุทธเจ้า

“ภิกษุทั้งหลาย บัดนี้ เราขอเตือนท่านทั้งหลาย สังขารทั้งหลายมีความเสื่อม ความสิ้นไปเป็นธรรมดา ท่านทั้งหลาย จงบำเพ็ญไตรสิกขา คือศีล สมาธิ ปัญญา ให้บริบูรณ์ด้วยความไม่ประมาทเถิด”

ขอปิดท้ายด้วย Soundtrack อีกหนึ่งเพลงประทับใจ Just Like That โดย Abel Korzeniowski หวานเศร้าๆ -- สงสัยมากๆ ว่าเพลงจากเรื่องนี้ทำไมไม่ได้รับเสนอชื่อเข้าชิงออสก้าร์ :(



เขียนแบบลวกๆ ไม่ค่อยต่อเนื่อง อยากทำเป็นโน้ตไว้ช่วยจำ แต่หวังว่าอาจเป็นประโยชน์บ้างสำหรับใครที่หลงเข้ามาอ่าน
