Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland & The Mad Hatter

เพิ่งดูเรื่องนี้จบแล้วอยากโน้ตไว้ ไม่อยากดูมานานเพราะตอนดู Charlie and Chocolate Factory แล้วไม่ชอบเด็ปเป็นวิลลี่ วองก้าเลย แต่เรื่องนี้ดูแล้วสนุกมาก รู้สึกชอบเด็ปเกือบเท่าตอนที่เล่นใน Edward Scissorhands นอกจากนี้ฉากยังเจ๋ง มีต้นโอ้คหงิกๆ งอๆเอกลักษณ์ของเบอร์ตั้นที่เราชอบ (555)

อลิซในเรื่องที่ดัดแปลงนี้ (จาก Alice in Wonderland กับ Through the Looking Glass ของ Lewis Carroll) เขียนบทโดย Linda Woolverton จับบทตอนอลิซ โต ทำให้เนื้อหาน่าสนใจและคนดูที่เคยอ่านเรื่องคลาสสิคมาแล้วไม่ตั้งความคาดหวัง

แม้เนื้อเรื่องจะทำให้เป็นเหมือนการค้นหาความมั่นใจของอลิซ ซึ่งอาจจะดูน้ำเน่าไปนิด แต่คนดูสาวๆ ก็ชอบ แบบทำนอง "เส้นทางสู่ความเป็นสาวมั่น" -- ดังนั้น "การจะเอาชนะสิ่งที่ป็นไปไม่ได้ เราก็ต้องเชื่อว่ามันเป็นไปได้" และ เราควร "จินตนาการถึงสิ่งที่เป็นไปไม่ได้หกอย่างก่อนอาหารเช้า" และ "ถ้าคิดว่าตัวเองเป็นบ้าไปแล้ว ก็จงรู้ไว้ว่า คนที่เจ๋งๆ ส่วนใหญ่ บ้าทุกคน" ฮ่าๆๆๆ โดนใจเหลือเกิน


Just finished watching this version of Alice in Wonderland -- and absolutely adored it!!  Johnny Depp is absolutely splendid as the Mad Hatter --  I like him in this role more than anything he has done with Burton since Edward Scissorhands (I disliked him as Willy Wonka and loved Gene Wilder in that role.)

The spicing up of "girl power" and "self-esteem boosting" makes the story more contemporary  -- especially the part which urges you to "imagine six impossible things before breakfast" and that if you think you've gone bonkers -- just know the secret that "all the best people are"...

The only way to achieve the impossible is to believe it is possible!!!

เมื่อวานไปรอเพื่อน แต่ไม่มีอะไรติดมือไปอ่าน เลยเดินเข้าร้านหนังสือเก่า เห็นเล่มนี้ น่าสนใจ เลยหยิบมา ราคาเหรียญเดียว คุ้มซะยิ่งกว่าคุ้ม ได้อาหารสมองในระหว่างรอ

สำหรับคนที่รู้ประวัติดนตรีป้อปดีคงรู้สึกว่าหนังสือห่วย แต่สำหรับตัวเองชอบฟังเพลงแต่ไม่เคยรู้ว่า ฟิล สเปคเตอร์เป็นใคร แล้วรู้สึกว่าไ้ด้ความรู้ดีมาก ถ้าไม่นับวิธีการนำเสนอแบบ sensationalize (แบบพาดหัวข่าวไทยรัฐหน้าหนึ่ง) และในส่วนใหญ่ผู้เขียนอาจยกเมฆแล้ว (NY Times: From Hitmaker to Defendant, A Long and Winding Road) หนังสืออ่านง่าย สนุกๆ ให้เกร็ดประวัติวงการเพลงป้อบได้ดี และหวังว่าข้อมูลคงเชื่อถือได้ส่วนหนึ่ง (หมายเหตุ: Mick Brown ได้สัมภาษณ์ Spector ในปี 2003 ลงในหนังสือพิมพ์ Telegraph ของอังกฤษ ซึ่งคงเทียบได้กับหนังสือพิมพ์ไทยรัฐ -- เอ่อ ไม่ได้มีอะไรกับไทยรัฐ เปรียบเทียบแล้วเข้าใจง่ายดี)


ฟิล สเปคเตอร์ มีเพลงฮิตติดอันดับหนึ่งBillboard เพลงแรกเมื่อเขาอายุ 18 ปี "To Know Him is to Love Him" (1958) (ชื่อเพลงที่เอามาจากคำจารึกหินบนหลุมฝังศพของพ่อเขา ซึ่งฆ่าตัวตายไม่นานก่อนหน้านั้น) และกลายเป็นเศรษฐีโดยมีค่ายเพลงเป็นของตัวเองเมื่ออายุ 22 ถ้าจะเทียบกันไปก็คงจะเป็นเจ้าหนูมหัศจรรย์ของยุคนั้น เทียบกับ Bill Gates, Steve Job, Mark Zuckerber (Facebook) หรือ Larry Page กับ Sergey Brin (Google) ในยุคหลังๆ

ในช่วงปี ค.ศ. 1961-1966 เพลงที่ฟิล สเปคเตอร์ เป็นโปรดิวเซอร์ขึ้นอันดับBillboard ถึงยี่สิบกว่าเพลงจาก 40 เพลง จน Tom Wolfe (นักเขียนอเมริกัน นังสือขายดี) ยกเขาให้เป็น "The First Tycoon of Teen"

Phil Spector เป็นเจ้าของบริษัท "Wall of Sound" และเป็นโปรดิวเซอร์และแต่งเพลงดังๆ อย่าง "Be My Baby" (The Ronnettes, 1963), "You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin" (The Righteous Brothers, 1964), "Imagine" (John Lennon, 1971), Ike & Tina Turner, The Beatles, George Harrison - Concert for Bungladesh, My Sweet Lord (George Harrison, 1971), Elvis Presley, Ben E. King ฯลฯ อีกมากมาย -- พออ่านตรงนี้ในคำชี้ชวนในหน้าปกหนังสือ (blurb) ก็ทึ่งเลย เอ๊ รู้จักเพลง วงดนตรีและนักร้องเหล่านี้ แต่ไม่เคยสนใจโปรดิวเซอร์ น่าสน น่าสน

ในช่วงปลายช่วงปี 1970 มีเหตุการณ์ (ยังอ่านไม่ถึง) ที่ทำให้เขาหนีหน้าจากสังคมไปเก็บตัว (รู้สึกเหมือน ฮาร์วาร์ด ฮิวส์) แล้วจู่ๆ ในวันที่ 3 กุมภาพันธ์ 2003 เขาก็ถูกจับด้วยข้อหาฆ่าดาราสาว Lana Clarkson (รับบทเล็กๆ ใน Fast Times at Richmond High) ในคฤหาสถ์ของเขาเองในย่านหนึ่งของ ลอส แองเจลิส คดีถูกยกฟ้อง (mistrial) ในปี 2007 แต่ในปี 2009 คดีเปิดขึ้นอีกครั้ง ครั้งนี้เขาถูกตัดสินให้มีความผิดฐานฆ่าคนจริง (Second degree murder) และถูกตัดสินจำคุก 19 ปี ถึงตลอดชีพ

ยุครุ่งเรืองของฟิล สเปคเตอร์ในโลกแห่งแสงสีดูจะอยู่ในเงามืดไปอีกนาน แต่ถ้าเรามองข้ามตรงนี้ไป ชีวิตและความมีวิสัยทัศน์ของเขา ซึ่งทำให้วงการเพลงป้อบเกิดและเป็นที่นิยมมาจนถึงทุกวันนี้ ก็เป็นสิ่งที่น่าทึ่ง น่าศึกษา

ชอบคำพูดด้านหน้าของหนังสือโดย George Bernard Shaw ที่ว่า

"The reasonable man adapts himself to the world. The unreasonable man adapts the world to himself. All progress depends on the unreasonable man"

Groundhog Day 2011 - Spring will be early this year.

Punxsutawney Phil, America's favorite groundhog, predicted an early spring when he failed to see his shadow Wednesday morning at Gobbler's Knob in Punxsutawney, Pa.

วันที่ 2 กุมภาพันธ์เป็นวัน Groundhog Day ที่ฉลองกันในอเมริกาและแคนาดา ได้ยินว่าต้นกำเนิดธรรมเนียมนี้อยู่ที่เมือง Punxsutawny รัฐเพนซิลเวเนีย ในวันนี้คนจะมารอดูเจ้าตัว Groundhog นี่โผล่มาจากรู ถ้ามันเป็นเงาตัวเองก็จะหลบกลับเข้าไปในรู และหมายความว่าฤดูหนาวจะยาวนานต่อไปอีกหกสัปดาห์ แต่ปีนี้เจ้า Punxutawny Phil ไม่เห็นเงา ก็แสดงว่าฤดูใบไม้ผลิจะมาเริ่มเร็วขึ้นอีก

เอามาลงไว้ เพราะไปเห็นหน้าเจ้า Phil มันน่ารักน่าอุ้มจริงๆ
